School Commended For Outstanding Performance

We are very proud to announce that last week the school received a letter from David Laws, MP, Minister of State for Schools, informing us that we are to WB 198receive a 'Pupil Premium Award'. We were selected for this award as one of the highest achieving schools in the country in terms of the attainment and value-added progress of our more disadvantaged pupils. We understand that we were one of only three schools across the whole of the East Midlands to achieve the requirements for the award and were delighted to learn that we will be receiving a £5,000 prize as a result.

As a school we attract only limited additional funding for pupil premium compared to the sums received by many other schools. We were therefore partic david lawsularly pleased to receive this prize as we do feel it reflects not only our carefully targeted approach but also and more importantly the hard work and dedication shown by all those at West Bridgford School who contribute to this area of work. The £5,000 award will make a very welcome addition to supporting our Pupil Premium learners with additional provision that we can now plan and deliver. In his letter to us Mr Law also informed us that we were, once again, placed in the 100 top performing non-selective state funded schools in England .  For any school to get into the top 100, all groups of pupils must do very well and maximise their potential in the final exams. The school performance tables that were released last month show that pupils at WBS make excellent academic progress regardless of their academic starting point or their background. Pupils of all ability levels and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds made progress gains well beyond national averages and all groups showed significantly positive value-added outcomes.
