cross country Oct 2011

Saturday 1 October saw the start of another cross country season as Berry Hill Park, Mansfield. On an unusually sunny autumn morning over 45 West Bridgford athletes competed against opposition from all over the county, over a tough yet firm and relatively fast course. Having full teams in four of the six races was outstanding for the first event and the year 7 girls and boys actually fielded 6 complete teams between them!

Throughout the morning our athletes ran superbly and the teams results were excellent once again. The year 7 boys teams finished 2nd and 4th, year 7 girls 1st, 3rd, 5th and 9th, year 8/9 girls finished 3rd and 7th and the year 8/9 boys finished 3rd. In addition to these fantastic team performances we also had an individual winner in Luis Kelk (7A), who ran an outstanding race to take the honours in the year 7 boys race. With so many new runners competing from West Bridgford, the signs are encouraging that we are in for another successful year. Well done to everyone who competed. The full results can be found in the PE folder on the school website.
