Lawrence, a member of the Notts County Sailing Club and a RYA Topper Jnr National squad member, managed 1st place in his recent East Midlands Championships event on 26 May 2012. Glorious conditions - blue skies and mid 20's temperature with a good F3 gust 4 down the lake!
Lawrence fought hard in his 3 races against some 30 other competitors and is now looking forward to the bigger challenges of the National and World Topper events through the summer.
Sam is very strong and accomplished Boccia player, he has been to many competitions and has been very successful however, this was his biggest competition yet.
Sam played well through all of his games and got through to the semi -finals where the players must compete in knock out stages making it a very exciting sport to watch and play.
Sam played extremely well, and remained calmed throughout the different stages of the game, with coaches expecting him to get a well-deserved place in the top 10. However, through Sam’s amazing skills and sportsmanship he managed to beat off players from all over the country and came a fantastic second place.
Sam now holds a National runner up title and will now go to Scotland on the 28-29th July to represent England in the National competition for Boccia.
We wish him all the very best and massive congratulations for his National title.
In March 2012 West Bridgford Students raised £950.12 for Sport Relief. This is a charity we have been supporting for 10 years and have now raised over £5,000 which is a fantastic achievement. Students sold cakes at break and participated in a 1 mile fun run in their PE lessons to show their support. Well done to all involved!!
and return from the last one on 22 June, ready for our Olympic celebration Day on 28 June when all the feeder primary pupils and staff will meet on our school field. The pupils carrying the flag are Alice Pett, Hannah Simmons, Imogen Allen, Josh Magson, Harry Houban and Tom Segal.
On Saturday 12th May the Under 14 Boys Football Team beat Kimberley 4-0 in the South Notts Cup Final with striker Dean Wykes scoring all four Bridgford goals. After beating South Nottinghamshire Academy, Rushcliffe, Harry Carlton and George Spencer in previous rounds the lads performed magnificently and thoroughly deserved the victory. The win was the culmination of three years of continued hard work and just goes to show what can be achieved if students apply the correct attitude, effort and determination. Next stop Barcelona….
