The West Bridgford School - A Specialist Technology College
Welcome from the Head Teacher
Dear Parent
As the Head Teacher of the West Bridgford School, I can reflect upon my delight in being associated with a high performing comprehensive school that was described by OfSTED (2007) as being a 'good and improving school'. This inspection describes our practice as at least good in all areas and outstanding in some.
I feel confident in describing the West Bridgford School as being progressive, forward-thinking and able to respond rapidly to the changing world in which we find ourselves. Only by being at the forefront of developments in education will we ensure that our students develop the skills and confidence they will need to succeed. I believe this can be achieved within a context of traditional academic values where high expectations are placed upon student behaviour, where firm but fair discipline procedures are practised and where there is a strict school uniform.
At the heart of our success is a team of dedicated teachers, ably supported by a range of associate staff, who are all committed to ensuring that our students receive the very best opportunities that a school can provide. Central to our aim is the desire to ensure that every child fulfils and exceeds their potential. We also recognise fully the importance of the partnership between home and school and West Bridgford School is fortunate to be well supported by parents who care greatly for their child's education.
As a foundation school with technology status we have an ambitious programme of change that we have either already realised or have planned. Through the additional funding we can now access we are able to develop an ethos which enables the school to prepare our students for the demands of this modern technological world. As a foundation school, we are better placed than most to pursue opportunities that this greater autonomy affords us. As a specialist school, we are now able to emphasise the subjects of Maths, Science, Design Technology, as well as developing further the use of ICT in all of our teaching ensuring that our students benefit from the use of the very latest technology.
I hope you decide to become a member of our school community. In doing so you should feel assured that our commitment to you, whatever the ability of your child, is to ensure that they maximise their potential in a caring and safe environment.
Yours sincerely
R. McDonough, Head Teacher
